I’m Pascal Tremblay-Chartier, proud owner of The Prince of Fresh Air Furnaces.

Today, I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

The most enjoyable part of my work is knowing that my customers are satisfied when the job is complete. Moreover, I also enjoy stepping back after a long installation to admire and appreciate the fruits of our expert labour.

I started my own business to offer homeowners a better choice in comfort solutions for their homes. What many prospective customers don’t realize is that most HVAC companies are strictly plumbing companies. They don't understand the intricacies involved in airflow design and integration. I wanted to offer more than simple unit change-outs and installation. Plus, being my own boss is pretty neat too!

I was born and raised in a small mining town in Northern Ontario. When I was seven years old my family moved to the next town South. Eventually we landed in the nation’s capital, Ottawa, where I completed my high school education. I attended college in Western Ontario and received my certificate in Aircraft Structural Repair. This career choice was short-lived after I discovered the wonderful world of heating ventilation and air conditioning! I returned to college to acquire the knowledge and skills I would need to become The Prince of Fresh Air!

I've been working in this trade for over a decade now. As HVAC systems continuously improve and become increasingly complicated, I began my career learning the most complex systems on the market. Before creating my company, I had had a number of employers who taught me the ins-and-outs of ventilation, gas fitting, plumbing, air conditioning, renovation, design, leadership and business ethics.

As a full time, hands-on business owner, father and husband, my days always have plenty to offer. As for my work responsibilities, I oversee sales and installation.

My typical weekday involves walking my oldest daughter to school in the morning and then preparing for the day ahead. Since we offer such a wide variety of mechanical services, my typical day is usually not very predictable. On any given day, I could have an installation, a repair, quotes to prepare, equipment to order and receive, or usually some combination of all of these tasks.

I work anywhere up to 16 hours a day. It depends on circumstances and demand. I usually keep busy regardless of the client workload. It all comes part and parcel with the industry.

The most important decision I face daily is how to prioritise my workload and labour. If it's minus 30 degrees outside and I begin receiving multiple "no heat" service calls, I need to make sure that everyone is back to safe and comfortable as soon as possible. Sometimes, if we're overbooked, I start referring customers to partner companies of ours to make sure that they are taken care of right away.

The top three skills I use to perform my job well are problem-solving, communication and workmanship. I believe most of my success stems from good customer relations and standing proudly behind our work. Sometimes customers require a little extra from their contractors. We do our best to make sure that this happens, in a timely, effective manner.

Once the work day is done, I come home to some happy kids who always greet me with a warm hug. My biggest pastime would be playing guitar, or “just pickin’ away at the ol’ guit-box” as I like to call it. I dabble with songwriting on both the acoustic and electric guit-box.

As for personal values, family of course, and business ethics are big ones for me. I can't stand seeing some of my competitors bill outrageous prices and yet not even warranty their work. Some customers require lots of attention, and some are in-and-out. It all evens out in the end

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.

If you, or someone you know in Calgary could benefit from our leading quality, expert sales, installation and service in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, I invite you to get in touch.

Sincerely,

Pascal
